Opinions on diagnosis

Hiya,
I'm doing a project on the diagnosis of autism for school (In addition to my A-Levels), I myself have a lot of experiance with autism since my brother has it and I volunteer with autistic children.
For my project I'm trying to find out how people feel the diagnosis has effected their lives, primarily using the opinions of those who are close to someone with autism, and if it has been a benefit to be diagnosed or not.
I'm also looking at how effective treatments are and at how people view autism in society.
If anyone would be willing to share your opinions that would be fantastic and a great help to me, no names are being used, I'm just using the things people say to build an idea of what the diagnosis means to people.
