Hi, Annie! Welcome to the site!I'm sure you will as I have found alot of helpful information and new friends here.It is nice to have people understand what you are going through when sometimes we feel so alone in dealing with this. I have five children, of these only one is NT.Four have various disorders in varied degrees (as do I), three of them have ASD's. I live in Winnipeg,MB, Canada. Pleased to see you on the site! -Janice

Re: hi everyone
Hi Annie! Yes life is full , and as always busy. I am currently searching for supports as I have been without some for awhile. My social worker retired, and the respite worker was taken out of the home as she could not keep up to the kids. My youngest will start school in the fall, but it is only for half days.My oldest is 17 and the only one not affected. The others are high functioning, but that holds it's own set of challenges as far as getting services goes. It's nice just to meet people, although our challenges are uniquely different, there is still an understanding of how difficult our lives can be and the ability to empathize with each other. Hope all is going well. - Janice

Re: hi everyone
I have never had the use of a social worker, and have now been told i not intittled to any respite care which is hard to take i have always done it by myself just with family support my parents are getting older and find it hard with aj they are fantastic in helping me in any way they can.
i not sure what will happening in the furture with my heath not very good, aj getting harder to control as he gets older.
Listen to me moaning -sorry for that, it just helps with everything every so often.
Annie.

RE:Your message sent
Don't be sorry, that's why I am here...to help others on the site as they have helped me.We become supports for each other because many others do not understand. I as well am a single parent. It took them three yrs. to deem us a crisis family. (Should've seen what life looked like 4 and-a-half years ago!)I have no family supports at all, and couldn't find the right supports within the city, so here I am on-line. We become a family of sorts, even though many of us are far from each other. It keeps my sanity and especially on days when there is meltdown after meltdown.I know it can be a difficult road and with no supports with four effected children can be hard to take, even at the best of times.Feel free to vent if it makes you feel better,we all need someone to talk to! Take care... and remember anytime you need someone, I'll be willing to listen or help if I can. Wink - Janice

Re: hi everyone
Thanks Janice your a star, it is nice to say things on here knowing parents would understand all my family know it is hard for me but i feel i cant moan to them or it gets them down and then they just worry about me more, i have put aj into afterschool just on a tuesday 3 till 6 just to give me a break from the normal routine once a week only started last week but its nice to cook the tea and bath my daughter Carys-faith without worrying what aj is upto.
This site is like another a family support unit in itself i cant believe just by being on here for a short while most nights how much it helps and its nice knowing we as parents are all here to listen and help each other.

Re: hi everyone
I love this site, it makes such a difference to talk to other parents and share experiences.
I never found or done anything like this in 13 yrs with aj i never knew about things like this, was never told by professionals about this kind of thing, which is very bad i think.
Do anyone think on here that help from professionals is slacking with the help and support parents like us need??
