Re: ear problems
Ask a pharmacist what the half-life is for the medication. (This just means the amount of time that it takes for the particular medication to dissapate from the system.)As an adult with Sensory Processing Disorder, maybe it would be helpful if I gave you my view point on what it is like to have it.Interestingly enough it can change from hyper to hypo sensitive immediately, and also switch back and forth. It is also a cause for suffering from emotional lability, so I'm wondering if your son has been placed onto another anti-psychotic in the meantime. Some days, I do not notice any differences, but other days the humm of the fridge, or the computer will make me very agitated. Commercials on TV are also twice the volume of the actual program (this is to gain and hopefully maintain your attention for the ads). Many of the cartoons and voices of characters have a higher pitch and compared with regular programming are also very over stimulating visually which may further irritate your child.Even if it is not painful, I will often feel pressure in my ears when in the hyper-sensitive state.I have noticed with in particular two of my children they will self-inflict injurious behaviors, banging head against the wall, arms of a chair and even punching ones self in the head in an effort to make the noise stop. They have no ear problems, and neither of them are on Resperidone. I hope that my personal perspective is helpful to you as coming from an adult, it is easy to clearly explain sensations and immediate switches from hyper to hypo-stimulation from my personal experience. -Janice

Re: ear problems
Aj had very bad ears in his first 18 months of life i kept getting them checked then when he was almost 3 it turned out he was upto 80% deaf which badly effected his balance thats why he kept falling over breaking his bones he was sent straight away to have gromments it worked fantastic they said he had the worse glue ear that the had ever seen.
It made me at the time not to believe everything people told me up till he was 3 he had so called passed every hearing test he had had, Thats why when i had Carys-Faith almost 3 years ago i made them do a special hearing test on her when she was only 3 days old little machines that fix to the ears dont lie she passed with flying colours they didnt have that hearing device 13 years ago- how things change thankfully for the better. |
