Hi im new on here, my son lyndon was diagnosed last week between mod-low autisum.

ive been watching programmes and cant reall get my head around it...is it normal to have some symptoms and not others?
Lyndon is quiet, sometimes plays well with others but some times dont, has obsessions which change, never angrey but bit behind at school and speech not perfect.

Hi,
Perfectly normal to have some symptoms and not others. You will also find that the symptoms vary in type and intensity. Like you said, sometimes he plays well with others and sometimes he doesn't. This could depend on who the others are, what they are playing, how stressed or anxious he is, what the weather's like etc.
Obsessions change so don't allow yourself to get fixated by them. Keep to basic routines but build in flexibility as it's important for Lyn don to be able to accept changes. Enjoy the times when he is well behaved and accept the times when he isn't.

As your son gets older, his symptoms will change. There will be times when he seems worse and times when you see an obvious improvement. You learn as you go along and quickly become an expert in autism.
